Engaging in the Spiritual Exercises in this way offers the opportunity to complete the journey in around six - seven months. Whilst this is an individual journey, those taking part will be companions throughout the experience of the Exercises. The residentials are timed at two particular points on the journey when a retreat environment can further enrich the prayer experiences.
The Hybrid Spiritual Exercises were probably the most important thing I've ever done in my life. It was incredibly helpful in knowing myself; who I am to God and who I am in Christ. The skills learnt and gifts received were too numerous to mention and I'm already using them every single day.

Making the Spiritual Exercises is a significant commitment and so we ask that you take time to consider your responses as you complete your application. Please read the additional notes on the application form. Places are limited, so early application is recommended. The first pooling date for applications is the end of February, therefore we advise you to apply by mid-February if possible. If places are not filled, we may re-open applications after this.
During the application process, we will ask you to request Letters of Recommendation from two people, i.e. members of your faith community who are able to comment on your commitment to your lived Christian faith and personal prayer practice. Information about this will be sent out on receipt of your completed registration form.
We may need to contact you during the application process (or if your application is placed onto our waiting list) so it is important you provide accurate and up-to-date contact information.
The Hybrid Spiritual Exercises includes six months of weekly Spiritual Direction and has a significant residential element and, as such, the requested donation for this retreat is £1600. This is what the Jesuit Institute needs to cover our costs and to support our work of making Ignatian spirituality available to as many people as possible. Please note you can split your donation into smaller payments over the duration of the retreat.
We don't wish anyone to feel excluded from making this retreat for financial reasons. If you are interested in participating but cost is an issue, please be aware that if you are offered a place, you can apply for funding support through Society for Retreat Conductors (https://www.thesrc.org.uk/grants.php) to either fully cover costs (if required) or to contribute to the cost - if you need any assistance with applying, we will be happy to advise.
