Learn to walk forward in hope together, connected with creation, by taking part in our Eco Retreat in Daily Life.

How might I work with God to care for the small corner of the earth in which I dwell?

How might this help to care for the planet at large?

How is God speaking to me through my senses in God’s creation every day?

This retreat is about becoming more attentive to the creation of which I am a part and to consider how God is calling me to work with God to care for it.

The online eco retreat invites you to make time for prayer and to listen to God through the words of Scripture and other reading material, the other retreatants, our own bodies and all of nature – we listen so that we experience Jesus’ promise that ‘they will have life and have it to the full’ (John 10:10). Our prayer and reflection may lead to action in the world in small ways that make a big difference or maybe in a bigger way than we thought possible.

How it works

This online retreat which takes place over several months (October to December) will invite you to contemplate certain realities and experiences of the created world in order to notice better how God is speaking to you personally through them and about them. There will be reading and prayer material for you to engage with and savour in your own time between sessions. The reading material will be drawn from a host of sources and will include extracts from Laudato Si and Laudate Deum. This will be followed by an opportunity to meet online (6pm-7.15pm) with a small group on Tuesdays twice a month (see schedule below) to voice and to listen to each other’s reflections, so that you might experience an ecological conversion over the course of the retreat that can find expression in action.

Feedback from last year’s Eco Retreat

It was a lovely opportunity to explore care of Creation from a new perspective and connect with like-minded people interested in eco-themes from a spiritual perspective.
The retreat deepened my awareness of my place in creation. It helped me develop a respect for and love of creation, as well as a desire to refrain from anything that harms the created world and to work with others to protect the environment.
